Internet Memes in a Landscape

Is this how internet memes will be remembered in the future. I'm going to go with yes. (Based on Gherardo di Giovanni del Fora's Chaste Women in a Landscape, by Hillary White)

Trollface Pumpkin Is Trolling

Best pumpkin ever, and it was on our neighbours front lawn! They seemed equally impressed I recognized Trollface.

This was my contribution to the art of Jack-o-lantern carving. Not so great, but the light made for some cool, fiery eyes.

And this, for those who don't know, is me as a fatter, whiter DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba.

Star Poker: Full Meme

I kinda feel for Riker, this would be an annoying group to play poker with. Admiral Akbar yelling "It's a trap!' all the time, Vader and his constant moaning and Picard's smugness. Poor Riker. (Poker Game by Stardamsel)

Exile on Meme Street

My god, it's full of memes! Dan Meth's twist on the most raucous Rolling Stones album, Exile On Main St.

Three Cookie Monster Moon

If moon was cookie, me think me would be
The happiest monster you've ever seen
I'd put on a spacesuit and up through the night
I'd ride in a rocket and go take a bite

Me take bite from here, me take bite from there
And pretty soon me bite everywhere
Me eat with both hands, don't need fork or spoon
I'd chew it all up, until there's no moon
Seriously, how does this meme keep turning out gold? (Cravings Cookie Monster shirt via Shirtoid)

Twenty-Nine Memes

"They have been in your emails, on your YouTubes, all over your internets and even on your boobTube. Now those infectious internets memes are celebrated all in one space on your chest. Twenty-nine memorable memes from '97 to today. This tee reminds us all that all your base are belong to us and that stomping grapes is not a game."

I don't know if it is the silhouette style, but there are a quite a few I don't recognize — and goatse is just as disturbing as a line drawing. (29 Memes via Chop Shop)

What OMG Cat Has Seen Cannot Be Unseen

I'm pleased to see OMG Cat becoming a meme and I look forward to many more. I was getting sick of that Trolololo guy.

ROFLcoaster

All aboard for Meme: The Ride.  I think there is still hope for me yet as I can only easily identify 12 of 16 off the top of my head. I need help and I don't mean in identifying the other four. (spaceghetto

Go To Sleep, TTC...

On Thursday, OGLE, a rider on Toronto's transit system posted a photo of a ticket booth collector enjoying a deep snooze at work, then sent it out on Twitter. It then went viral. It showed up in my feed a few times that day, I laughed and passed it along. By the next morning it was all over the media, gracing front pages and websites.

The TTC sprung into damage control, vowing to investigate, while the ticket collector's union went the unusual route of blaming the photo taker: "It is very discouraging that the picture taker and, apparently, other customers, made no attempt to determine if there was anything wrong with this TTC employee," said Bob Kinnear, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union.

"A simple knock on the glass might have determined if the collector was, in fact, asleep, or whether he was unconscious as a result of some medical problem."

He's clearly not  dead, just enjoying a good nap. The interweb responded (above, via @boyreporter) and soon the now dubbed TTCSleeper started showing up everywhere...

Ahh, it's so nice that Homer finally found a compatible work buddy. Lenny and Carl are great, but they don't know how to relax. Sector 7G has never been in better hands. (Oswald Cobblepot! via Keadin)

indigirl had another explanation for the incident — perhaps he wasn't snoozing, but just having his brain remapped. Is the TTC a Dollhouse?

Meanwhile JakenBear still wasn't sure that the ticket collector wasn't dead and cast a new Weekend at Bernies sequel. Yay.

The Death Star trash compactor? Wow, that guy can sleep though anything.

I'd never noticed the TTCSleeper in Edward Hopper's Nighthawks before, but he does fit in rather well.

And once there was a TTC Sleeper Last Supper this meme was in full force. From Hugh Elliott at wheniwas19. See more photoshops at Mondoville.

Beware of social media, folks, it can bite you in the ass. Funny too.

Rick Roll In A Bottle

I know, it's probably old (I couldn't find it on Cyanide and Happiness) and Rick Astley is so last decade, but it made me laugh and it's a meme kind of day for me. (Link via Tumblefrog)

The expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, told in four simple panels. I don't know if I should be impressed or appalled that it made perfect sense to me.  The First Fail from cartoonist H. Caldwell Tanner. (Link via The Zeray Gazette)

Last Supper Party Crashers

It's not a meme until the Last Supper gets involved. Seems socialite, reality-TV wannabes Michaele and Tareq Salahi have been party crashing for what seems like years. Forget the White House, these people have been everywhere. (Link via Asylum)

Twilight: Three Wolf Moon

So I'm off to the Toronto premiere of Twilight: New Moon tonight, which I admit is a little odd. I figure I will be both the oldest person in the audience and the only one who hasn't seen the previous film or read any of the books. But because I am nothing but intrepid I did some research and if it is anything like the above trailer it should be a good time. I will report back about all the squealing.

The Lolfather

I can has offer you can't refuse? From designer jimiyo at TeeFury.

I know I've been posting a lot of tees recently, but they seem to be at the forefront of the kind of pop culture jokes I love. Sadly TeeFury only sells shirts for a 24-hour period, for some reason and I have no idea of they do reprints.

Balloon Boy: Up, Up And Away In My Beautiful Meme

Turn off the computer and the TV for a couple of hours and the whole place goes nuts. Of course reading about Balloon Boy after it had all passed make the whole incident seem like, well, hot air.

Some media-savvy folk's balloon got loose and a six-year-old kid was hiding in a box and for that nobody did any work this afternoon? At least we get a short-lived meme out of it.

Facebook page from Red Feet, via Urlesque, who has collected up 18 or so of them. Nice work, intertubes.

Konnichiwa, Dissected Domo

Domo-kun is one of those strange marriages of Japanese and web culture... wait, I suppose I don't really need to add that qualifier as it really goes without saying. I had seem images of Domo all over the web before I actually knew what it was, a mascot for Japan's NHK television station that has become a harbinger of doom in his online incarnation. Know Your Meme can tell you all you need to know.

Anyway, long story short, master illustrator Jason Freeny has shown us all what Domo looks like inside, because we were all wondering but didn't know how to ask. It's the Internet, kids! You learn something you didn't need to know everyday.

All Your Viral Videos Are Belong To Us

Watch 100 of YouTube’s most famous viral videos in just over three minutes. Are there 100? Dunno, I didn't keep track, but it would take you a lot longer to find and watch them all separately. I should know, seeing as how many of them I recognized. Consider it a time-wasting time saver. (Link via Presurfer)
