Westside Wookie

Fuzz for life wookie/Can't you read the signs?

Like Casey Weldon, who once promised to never paint another Star Wars piece, I often think I won't post another Star Wars image. And like Casey, I couldn't resist 2Pacca.

Maybe You Can Hire The Pop Culture Team

Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the Pop Culture Team.

Glen Brogan put together the perfect stereotypical gang for Front Magazine. 'We have Peter Venkman as the ladies man, Donatello as the brains, Chewbacca as the muscle, Screech as the wild card, Dobby as the mascot, and the A-Team van as the vehicle."

Pop Culture Last Supper

Dave MacDowell once again makes my brain hurt with his pop culture-stuffed paintings, this time a Popped Culture favourite, the Last Supper. Is that Robert Redford's The Candidate as Judas and Olivia Newton-John's Sandy as the apostle John, (or Mary Magdelene)?

The rest, from the left: Optimus Prime, Chewbacca, Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette from True Romance, Johnny Depp from 21 Jump Street, Brad Pitt from Fight Club, Andy Wharol, Cornelius from Planet of the Apes and Hong Kong Phooey. Not sure who is on the far right. Anyone?

Wookie The Pooh

While James Hance hasn't returned (yet) to his comic strip of Han Solo and Chewbacca as Calvin and Hobbes he has given us something just as lovely — Wookie the Pooh.

"You'll most likely lose it again, anyway," Han told Eeyore-AT-AT.

Cal Solo and Hobbesbacca

The Kessel Run: Han and Chewie never said *when* they did it. Pop artist James Hance is proposing making this (which is just 'a doodle') a twice-weekly comic.

Please tell him you want to see this - I need it.

How Chewbacca Defeated The Nazis And Won World War Two

Chewbacca riding a giant squirrel killing Nazis. Yup, that's pretty much how I remember it from history class. It's what Inglourious Basterds was actually based on, but you know Quentin Tarantino and his loose ways with historical truth. (By Tyler Edlin via gamefreaks)

C Is For Chewie

Pop artist James Hance has a "new exhibition of new and classic works by James Hance - Muppets, Fraggles, Goblins from the Labyrinth, Goonies, Superheroes, imaginary friends and childhood idols come to life (not literally, that would be terrifying) on canvas, for one night only - come enjoy a visual and audible feast for your misbehaving inner child!"

Saturday Morning Glory - Doodles From the Naughty Step is showing in Jacksonville, Fl., this Saturday, so I don't know how many of you could actually attend, but hopefully some of the prints will be on display at his site.

I don't know if c is for chewie is part of the show but his latest painting, Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem is.

Counting Space Sheep

"You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought." Han Shepherd and his Woolkie? I have no idea what this shirt is all about, but you can vote for it here. (space sheep by k.c.o. via Shirtoid)

Samurai Star Wars

Darth Vader

Han Solo & Chewbacca the Oni

Artist Steve Bialik's shows us what the Star Wars characters would look like as samurais from traditional Japanese art. Weren't samurai one of George Lucas' inspirations for Star Wars? Mmmm, pop-art meta. (STEVEAPALOOZA via BuzzFeed)

A More Magnificent Seven

They were seven - and they fought like seven hundred!

Popped Culture reader Tom Geddes sent me his creation of a more Magnificent Seven, replacing James Coburn with Bruce Willis, Horst Buchholz with Ghandi, Yul Brynner with Mr. T, Brad Dexter with Chewbacca, Robert Vaughn with Batman and, my favourite Charles Bronson with Optimus Prime. Steve McQueen stayed in as "he's the coolest man that ever lived."

Nice work, Tom — I hope to see more.

Laugh It Up, Fuzzball

Han Solo and Chewbacca are The Odd Couple: Can two smugglers share a spaceship without driving each other crazy?

A mashup of a TV show off the air since 1975 with a film from 1977, made in 2009. A little late, but it works. (Link via Buzzfeed)
