Wookie The Pooh

While James Hance hasn't returned (yet) to his comic strip of Han Solo and Chewbacca as Calvin and Hobbes he has given us something just as lovely — Wookie the Pooh.

"You'll most likely lose it again, anyway," Han told Eeyore-AT-AT.

Cal Solo and Hobbesbacca

The Kessel Run: Han and Chewie never said *when* they did it. Pop artist James Hance is proposing making this (which is just 'a doodle') a twice-weekly comic.

Please tell him you want to see this - I need it.

Muppets Kick Ass

Where is the new Muppets Show? This is the sort of parody we need to see!

C Is For Chewie

Pop artist James Hance has a "new exhibition of new and classic works by James Hance - Muppets, Fraggles, Goblins from the Labyrinth, Goonies, Superheroes, imaginary friends and childhood idols come to life (not literally, that would be terrifying) on canvas, for one night only - come enjoy a visual and audible feast for your misbehaving inner child!"

Saturday Morning Glory - Doodles From the Naughty Step is showing in Jacksonville, Fl., this Saturday, so I don't know how many of you could actually attend, but hopefully some of the prints will be on display at his site.

I don't know if c is for chewie is part of the show but his latest painting, Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem is.

The Creation Of Kermit

Jim Henson first formed Kermit out of the felt of the table and then reached his hand into his body, giving him the breath of life. James Hance takes Michelangelo's painting and makes his own creation myth. (The Creation Of Kermit via StrangelyDrawn)

Bert & Ernie & Picasso

I just rediscovered James Hance's site this weekend and it is a treasure trove of pop culture art. I couldn't resist featuring a few. (Bert & Ernie (Picasso style) via pop artist James Hance)

Though it is little known, Charlie Chaplin made one more movie featuring The Tramp after Modern Times. That Tarantino, is there anyone he didn't borrow from? (Pulp Chaplin via pop artist James Hance)

The Last Sucker

While it is only a small scene of the A-Team Last Supper, it is a packed vignette. While as a team, John 'Hannibal' Smith was the leader, as a show and a pop culture phenomenon, Mr. T's B.A. Baracus was clearly the breakout star and therefore the Christ figure at this table.

While it might make sense to portray Colonel Roderick Decker, who was the team's nemesis throughout the series, as Judas, it is Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in that position. He is both in the right position, is wearing a similar robe and, more to the point, he is hiding the drugs that B.A. suspects are in his milk.

The painting is from pop artist Jim Hance of Strangly Drawn, but that site appears down. You can see more of his work at his Flickr page. It's worth a visit.

This is my second entry for this week's geek Last Suppers.

Jimi Hendrix: Guitar Hero

But first, are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced?

Would Jimi have played Guitar Hero? I figure he would have, rocked it out, smashed it and then lit the whole thing on fire. Let me do that in the game and I'll play too. (From StrangelyDrawn via The Daily What)
