The Son Of Clockwork Orange

From designer Jimmy Thomason: "This is my take on RenĂ© Magritte’s The Son of Man, with a little Kubrick twist thrown in. I’ve always loved surrealist art and A Clockwork Orange is one of my wife’s favorite movies, so while we were talking about the movie recently, this design popped into my head."

Hello Pop Culture Kitties

Illustrator Joseph Senior (aka yodaflicker) is creating 101 pop culture Hello Kitty figures (he's got 68 so far). Above, eight of my favourites: Hello RoboKitty; Hello KISSy Gene; Hello Clockwork Orange; Hello DarthKitty; HALO Kitty; Hello Kill Bill; Hello Jason; Hello Rorschach. (Link via Geek-Art)

Stanley Kubrick's Iron Man

"You must design a poster for a movie called IRON MAN directed by Stanley Kubrick. This is all you know."

That was all the instructions the members of Warren Ellis' Whitechapel forums received in their latest challenge.

Above: Paul Sizer's take on A Clockwork Orange. Below: Michael Furious' take on Full Metal Jacket. Me: In film mashup heaven. (Link via Geek-Art | io9)

A Clockwork Beagle

Snoopy gets his droog on as he gets ready for a little bit of Peanuts ultra-violence. What he did to Woodstock I just can't repeat. (Snoopy DeLarge by D4N13L)

Movie In Haiku

Fight Club Haiku
Soap begins it all.
Starts underground following.
Soap to end it all.

A Clockwork Orange Haiku
Violent, troubled.
Goes too far one night. Caught, changed?
I was cured all right.

Pulp Fiction Haiku
Quoting from scripture.
Calling on the wolf for help
It's royale with cheese.

Movies in Haiku is the brainchild of Toronto's Hugh Elliott. See more haiku typography at his Etsy shop and more movie haikus at his Twitter account. (Thanks to Amber Mac for the tip)

A Clockwork Smurf

Ready for a bit of the old ultra-smurfness? Maybe if the new movie was something like this I'd watch it. (A Clockwork Smurf by Captain RibMan, via Shirtoid)

Viddy Well, Little Sister, Viddy Well

I'm not a babes blog but when I saw this photo of former America’s Next Top Model winner Adrianne Curry dressed as a droog from Clockwork Orange I had to post it and make plans to head to the Korova Milkbar.

"Adrianne Curry is caught in a limbo between “hot girl trying to be geeky” and “hot girl that is actually geeky,” but her devotion is such, that I might actually buy she’s for real." (Link via Unreality's Gallery of Adrianne Curry Playing Sci-Fi Dress Up)

A Clockwork Bunny

Get ready for a bit o' the old ultraviolence, re-enacted by bunnies. I don't know how I missed this one — it really does capture Clockwork Orange in 30 seconds.

A Clockwork Mice

Cute little mice and bunnies can make scenes of violence and horror seem so damn adorable! These Richard Scarry-esque rodents make Clockwork Orange, Nightmare on Elm Street, Silence of the Lambs and The Exorcist as safe as bedtime stories. I could send my kid to daycare in them, right? Reservoir Droogs

Dim: Why can't we pick our own colors?
Alex: No way, no way. Tried it once, doesn't work. You got four guys all fighting over who's gonna be Mr. Black, but they don't know each other, so nobody wants to back down. No way. I pick. You're Mr. Pink. Be thankful you're not Mr. Yellow.

Someone is going to be beaten before that argument is over.  (Worth1000 via Super Punch)

A Clockwork Clownfish

It seems little Nemo is up for a bit of the ol' ultraviolence. Viddy well, little brother. Viddy well. (Clockwork Clownfish via Super Punch)

So we played Finding Nemo for our three-year-old this weekend, figuring he was ready to upgrade from Cars — it might as well have been a beating scene from CLockwork Orange the way he reacted. Okay, so he's not ready for the dramatic tension.

And these are absolutely out, no matter how much I might want to put him in a t-shirt version of JSalvador's Droogies. Would daycare send him home?

Bite My Starchy Tuberous Ass

Mr. Bender Head, we love you!
Shut up, baby! I know it!

Flickr user mrtruffle has created over 3o pop culture-inspired Mr. Potato Head mashups out of modeling clay. Best use of the word mashup ever.

Kill Dill
She's on a mission to Kill Dill. The evil pickle that ruined her life. She'll also take on the Carrot 88.

A Clockwork Spud
Mr. Potato Head can't resist a bit of the old ultra violence.

Spud City
Walk down the wrong street in Spud City and you'll get mashed.

A Clockwork Green

Welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, well, it's Kermit and his droogs, ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence. I knew those Muppets were up to no good. (From Truck Bearing Kibble via The Daily What)

I don't know why the interweb gives like it does, but it delivered up another hit of Clockwork Orange mashup, this one mixed with They Might Be Giant's Extra Savoir Faire to create They Might Be Droogs - Clockwork Savoir-Faire. (Link via Unreality)

Muppets, TMBG and A Clockwork Orange? It's a pop culture tour de force!
