Time Inc. Shuts Down InStyle Weddings, Lays Off Nine

The popular quartely wedding publication, InStyle Weddings, has just been confirmed to be shut down by parent company, Time Inc.

The final issue will hit newsstands on Dec. 25, and will be there through March.

This news comes on the heels of Conde Nast's folding of Elegant Bride and Modern Bride last month. More news to come as this unfold.

Newly Wed Couple Surprised To Find Wedding Cake Completely Fake

Well, that's exactly what happened to Aimee and Tony West during their wedding reception when the cake cutting ceremony revealed that the cake was completely made of white polystyrene discreetly covered in icing. The "Garage" Wedding

Ben Alty and Karolina Nowakowska, both from the UK, decided they didn't want to start married life together in debt so they did what any serious thrifty bride and groom would do...they held their wedding reception in a converted garage.

The budget-cutting couple spent just £1,000 on their big day. The bride's gown was bought on the cheap from a charity Cancer research shop. They also saved a ton of money because the celebration rings were Ben's great grandmother's and grandfather's.

A five-course wedding breakfast for 25 was held at Ben's parents' house, with the reception being held in a converted garage.

The couple's biggest extravagance was £250 on champagne and other booze for the party - all bought during two-for-one supermarket promotions.

Wedding Stat: Brides Spending Less On Shoes

The latest wedding industry statistics issued by The Wedding Report shows that brides are spending less for wedding shoes in 2009. The average cost spent declined to an average of $83 compare to an average of $94 in 2008.

Bride Breaks Guinness Record With World's Longest Wedding Dress

It took guests more than three hours to roll out the gown of Lin Rong, a Chinese bride who recently broke into the Guinness Book of World Records by wearing the world's longest wedding dress. Costing almost $6,000 and complete with 9,999 silk red roses attached to it, Lin's dress measures in at 2 km (1.2 miles) and was completely handmade by her groom's family. The former old record was set in Romania with a dress that was recorded at 1.5 km long.

Woman Violates Parole While Appearing On TV's Bridezillas

Karee Gibson, 21, of Wisconsin, will be heading to the Racine County Jail after her appearance on the popular bridal reality show: Bridezillas.

“I thought it would be a nice opportunity for me to show my acting skills, cause I’ve always wanted to be an actress and also a way for my family to get some income to help me pay for my wedding,” Gibson told MyFOXMilwaukee.

Apparently, her probation office didn't agree. Her "outbursts" and "fussy" behavior were in direct violation of her parole agreement that originally stemmed from a fight she got into in high school.

Karee pleads that she was just "acting and playing the part" for the reality TV show.

Gibson’s attorney Alan Eisenberg says the charges are inexcusable. “She’s engaged in no misconduct of any kind,”

De Beers Reports A 99% Drop In Net Profits For First Half 2009

Stunning news from the diamond industry. The world's largest diamond producer, De Beers, has reported a 99% drop in net profits for the first half of 2009. De Beers made only $3 million in net profit versus $316 in the same period just one year ago. They have also reported that the sales of rough diamonds were down by 57%.

"The industry has been severely impacted by the global economic environment being the most difficult in decades," said the company, which has cut its global workforce by 23% and temporarily halted production at mines in Africa and Canada.

Man Proposes To His Girlfriend With 9,999 Roses!

Talk about romantic! A gentleman in East China decided that that his proposal to his girlfriend would be uniquely unforgettable by using 9,999 real red roses! The actual proposal took place in the room of a very popular hotel but the excitement started way before. Hundreds of roses were displayed in the shape of a heart on the grass on the way to the hotel and friends held huge bouquets of roses at every floor to welcome his blushing bride-to-be. Inside the room, hundreds of flowers and petals were beautifully arranged to create his masterpiece. As expected, the girlfriend said "yes".

For the record, 9,999 roses equals 833 dozen!
