The Last Breakfast

Sculptor Brian Stuckey's The Last Breakfast finally gives Cap'n Crunch the Christ position after so many portrayals as Judas, a role now filled by Rice Krispies Snap. What is is with breakfast cereal mascots? Their either fighting or wasting their lives together — don't they have any other friends? (Via Cultural Compulsive Disorder)

There Can Be Only One

Seems the Cap'n must have won, banishing the Count to his sugar crypt, only allowing him brief distribution around Halloween. (Classic Cereal Confrontation by Matt Needham)

Cereal Killer, Qu'est-ce Que C'est?

"The cereal-slinging life is enough to drive almost any decent cereal mascot to a life of murder. While the police have no proof that Sonny or Cap'n Crunch are responsible for the deaths of anyone, many children go missing each year. We think it's time someone took a good, long look into these borderline psychotics who might be part of a nutritious breakfast... but also part remorseless killer."

For more breakfast carnage, read Topless Robot's countdown of the 10 Cereal Mascots that Are Probably Also Serial Killers. My bet is on Tony the Tiger. There is no way somebody can be that relentlessly positive without eventually snapping.

The image of Buffy The Vampire Slayer dusting the Count is from pop artist Chris Tezber, entitled The Tragic Death of Count Chocula. (Link via Idiot Box Artwork)

Cereal Mascot Reunion

Ever wonder where old cereal mascots go once they are no longer in demand? Of course you do. Seems they don't disappear, but slowly fade away in the wood-paneled, shag-carpeted rec room of artist Rob Sheridan's mind.

So long Franken Berry, Trix Rabbit, Count Chocula, Cap'n Crunch and Tony the Tiger, sugary breakfasts just aren't the same without you.
