adventures of the wandering whippycakes :: tardy // oahu, hawaii

It's time for another edition of the Adventures of the Wandering WhippyCakes.

If you missed the previous editions of this series, check them out here.

The WhippyCake I'm modeling this week traveled from the shores of South Carolina, over the mountains of Colorado to my beaches here in Hawaii. Specifically, a beach on the West (ish) side of Oahu that we call Pine Trees... because of all the pine trees. Our mini church met here for a night time praise and worship session so my WhippyCake and I had a little photo opp.

This is Ilene's whippycake and the bright colors and sparkly fabrics totally fit her freakin' awesome personality. I knew I'd have fun playing with the bright colors too. This time I decided to let my WhippyCake shine and paired it with this neutral ( but oh so comfy and pretty) dress from Spool72

Chambray + crochet + a little glitz = me feelin' mighty purty.

(See, Chris, I can do math!)

Do you have an accessory you don when you want to feel a little extra pretty?

Make sure to check out how my bloggy sisters styled their WhippyCakes (and who has mine??)

Adventures of the Wandering WhippyCakes :: Twiggy // Oahu, Hawaii

It's time for another edition of the series Adventures of the Wandering Whippy Cakes! My buddies, Sandy, Ilene, Kim, Moriah and I are swapping our Whippy Cake headbands and displaying different ways to style them.

This time around I have Kim's original Whippy Cake-- the Twiggy. Kim looks adorable in earthy neutrals like this guy but I rarely wear them so I knew it was going to be a fun challenge for me to style it. When I got it in the mail, I stood in front of my closet for a good twenty minutes trying to figure out what the heck I could wear with BROWN?!

My original thought was mustard yellow, but I eventually went with this bright fuschia dress that has sweet braided detailing and is oh-so-comfy! I loved this outfit and now I'm in love with Twiggy!

Er, sorry it's so hard to see my actual Whippycake... it was windy out there that day!

See Diamond Head there over my left shoulder?

This is right by our favorite surf spot and I love enjoying that view as I'm paddling out on my board.

Adventures of the Wandering Whippy Cakes:: Poppy // Oahu, Hawaii

Aloha and Happy Wednesday! I'm stoked to introduce an exciting new blogging series featuring myself, Kim of Oh Sweet Joy, Ilene of Much Love Illy, Moriah of Josiah's Nest and Sandy of Sandy a la Mode!

Poppy Mini:: {Whippy Cake}
Top:: {Cinnamon Girl}
Shorts:: {I dunno)
Rings:: {Charlotte Russe}
Sandals:: {American Eagle}

Back in April, at Creative Estates, I met many inspiration women. Four of those women became my sisters over the weekend. We shared jelly beans during the sessions, snuggled together as we talked about blogging, handmade biz and life, and were dubbed "the headband crew", as we donned our various hair accessories each day. I love each of these sweet girls' heart, talents, passions and style!

We also met Becki, the owner behind Whippy Cake and she is just as gorgeous, sassy and sweet as her hair accessory creations. As we perused her booth, we each had a hard time deciding on just one! And so, the Adventures of the Wandering Whippy Cakes was born.

Every so often, we'll be swapping our Whippy Cakes and showing you our own takes on how to style each one. Each Whippy Cake detaches from the headband so you can use them as fascinators, headbands, brooches on clothing and bags. The possibilities are endless. Today we each have our own picks!

I chose the Poppy Mini-- a pretty, bright combo of a coral gingham, yellow and floral with sweet vintage buttons at the center of each poppy. Coral-- are you REALLY surprised?? I bought the ivory lace headband to go with it, but decided to just clip it in my hair this day. I'm wearing one of my very favorite tops from a little boutique here in Hawaii called Cinnamon Girl. I thought the backdrop of Waikiki would be the perfect place to show off my Whippy Cake. The white sand, swaying palm trees and um, speedo-clad tourists definitely say "You're in Hawaii!"

Make sure you hop over and check out the Whippy Cakes the other girls chose and how they are rocking their own Whippy Cake style!

Moriah of Josiah's Nest

Tune in next time and see which Whippy Cake we each end up with!
