Muse-ings

Anyone want to speculate on Muse and why on the biggest night of the tightly controlled music industry they get to feature lyrics and visual symbolism that appear to be in opposition to the regularly scheduled drivel they promote? They also won 'Rock Album of the Year' for "The Resistance." Call me cynical but there may be more to it than just making money. Sing along kids.
Here's another video since the grammys must think the HD version is worth something.
A better quality one. Also here.
Uprising
The paranoia is in bloom
The P.R. transmissions will resume
They'll try to push drugs, keep us all dumbed down
And hope that we will never see the truth around
So come on
Another promise, another scene, another
Packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed with all the
Green belts wrapped around our minds and endless
Red tape to keep the truth confined, so come on
They will not force us
And they will stop degrading us
And they will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on
Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take its toll
If you could flick a switch and open your third eye
You'd see that we should never be afraid to die
So come on
Rise up and take the power back
It's time the fat cats had a heart attack
You know that their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend
So come on
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on
Hey, hey, hey, hey

Alex Chilton
As a Memphis kid of 16, Alex Chilton, became a star with the Box Top's 'The Letter.' That period was the peak of his commercial success but he became a 'cult' hero with Big Star and with his solo albums influencing countless alternative bands over the years.
Scheduled to play this weekend at Austin's South By Southwest, Alex died on Wed. March 17th at the too young an age of 59. Sympathy goes out to his wife, Laura, and son, Timothy.
He will be missed.

The Work Will Set Us Free
Music by Jane Jensen, written by Eden Roemer
More music from Jane Jensen
"A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude. To make them love it is the task assigned, in present-day totalitarian states, to ministries of propaganda, newspaper editors and schoolteachers.... The greatest triumphs of propaganda have been accomplished, not by doing something, but by refraining from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth." - - Aldous Huxley

Don't Try To Fight It
Sept. 3, 2009
@ The Basement • Nashville, TN
The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy.
It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.
The best victory is when the opponent surrenders of its own accord before there are any actual hostilities. It is best to win without fighting.
Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.
There is no instance of a nation benefiting from prolonged warfare. All warfare is based on deception.Sun Tzu

Shadows of September & A Lesson
This song is for everyone who gets that What the Hell feeling whenever they see a picture of the skyline of New York taken before the events on 9/11.
We will not forget!! This song was written and produced by Nikki Chavez.
Recorded and mixed at The Smoakstack in Nashville
The Iraq War Song (A Lesson) was inspired by a true story of a U.S. soldier who left the army after witnessing atrocities during a two year tour of duty in Iraq. His experiences were reported in a local newspaper as well as in a public speaking engagement. At his request, I have kept his name anonymous. He has since joined the ranks of an ever-expanding league of soldiers in the 'war resister' movement, whose fight is now for truth, justice, liberty and peace. {more}

Les Paul 1915 - 2009
The name of Les Paul will live as long as there are people who play electric guitar... his design and Gibson Guitar assures it.
He was a heckuva player as well.
A tip 'o the hat to an American icon.
Les Paul (1915-2009) Besides the solid-body electric guitar which defined the sound of rock and roll, his many recording innovations include overdubbing, looping, delay effects such as "sound on sound" and tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording. Here, Les Paul and Mary Ford are hosted by Alistair Cooke on a 1953 broadcast of the legendary CBS show Omnibus.
In an emergency which would you save first, your wife or your Les Paul guitar?
....Ok, give me a minute..... I'm thinking.....
