What? You doubt my sincerity?
The games the two party scammers play often include giving a vulnerable congressman a 'pass' to vote against party lines if it possibly means getting him a few extra votes in the next election to keep him in office.
Tennessee 6th district congressman Bart Gorden got the OK to vote no on last night's health care bill, one of 39 Dems who did so.
Of course there could be no surprises, the network already knew it would pass, so Gordon got to flip flop on his earlier statements and actions that he would vote for it in order to appease his already upset constituency.
Gordon has been under fire ever since he voted for the bailouts. Between the tea parties, town hall meetings, phone calls and emails, Bart's concerns for his seat in 2010 are real.
Gordon's statement after the vote included.....
“This process of drafting health care proposals has been both lengthy and healthy. I’ve received valuable comments and suggestions from the Middle Tennesseans I represent. However, we still have a long way to go,” said Gordon. “Any health care bill that is ultimately signed into law must not increase the federal deficit or our long-term spending on health care. I am hopeful that the Senate and House can work through the amendment process and conference committee and get to a point where we have a better bill that incorporates bipartisan ideas that I can support.” {more}That's a pretty safe stance to take in an attempt to pacify both Democrats and Republicans in his district.
Now read what Dennis Kucinich had to say on his no vote (from American Everyman).....
In His Own Words: Why Kucinich Voted "No" on H.R. 3962
Had Gordon said anything close to the Kucinich statement, well, we might have some 'hope' that he is not a bought shill for the fraud of the two party system. But we know better.
Bart's worried. A backlash against all incumbents could put him out of office. The problem is that his only announced opponent, Lou Ann Zelenik, is nothing more than a party line clone who, more than likely, would follow the two headed war party objectives. Some choice...
Bye Bye Bart? Goodbye to all traitors in Congress would be more like it...but who is to take their place...more of the same?
