Flight 93 - Memorial to a Myth

The 'Let's Roll' myth gets its own memorial. This is not justice or even consolation for the victims. It is only a continuation of the cover-up.

The federal government will pay about $9.5 million to acquire land so the Flight 93 National Memorial can be built by the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said Monday.

With the National Park Service reaching agreements with eight landowners, construction is expected to start in November, Salazar said.

Salazar called the site where the plane crashed, near Shanksville in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, hallowed ground and said the nation was "eternally grateful for the heroes of Flight 93."

United Flight 93 was traveling from Newark, N.J., to San Francisco when it was diverted by hijackers with the likely goal of crashing it into the White House or Capitol. The official 9/11 Commission report said the hijackers crashed the plane as passengers tried to wrest control of the cockpit. {more}

Donald Rumsfeld couldn't always get his lies straight and let it slip that Flight 93 was shot down.

I listened in on a phone conversation with an airman on 9/12/01 and heard him tell of the 'rumor' of Flight 93 being shot down.
"On Sept. 12, 2001 I was at work and my buddy called me into his office while he was on a 3 way call with his wife, sister-in-law and brother-in-law who was in the Air Force. Putting the speaker phone on, I heard the airman repeat that the "rumor" had spread like wildfire throughout the ranks that they had shot down flight 93. He said the pilot was either from North or South Dakota. He actually was quite excited about it and felt that they had done their job." {K}
